Bettie Wailes, Owner

I taught math for two and a half years in the 1970s before moving to software development in the simulation and training industry. After nearly twenty-five years in that field, I returned to teaching as a private tutor. I started Wise Owl Tutoring in 2002. We are now in our third office, and have seven other tutors and an office assistant.

When I'm not tutoring, I'm likely either writing or editing. I've written a memoir, The Daydream, which won second place in the Florida Writer's Association 2003 writing contest. It is currently being considered by several agents.

I also edit and proofread. Published works that I've edited include a children's fantasy, a general fiction, a biographical fiction, a memoir, a historical fiction, and an action mystery. The children's fantasy and one of the novels won Royal Palm Awards at the 2005 Florida Writers Conference.

If I'm not at the keyboard, I'm probably running. I've completed 45 marathons in 28 states. My goal is to complete a marathon in all 50 states.
